What Michael Jordan Taught Me About Success
Being inspired and motivated by others is a great way to push forward when school is tough and nothing seems to be going your way. Almost all successful people will have overcome obstacles, made sacrifices, and worked hard to get where they are today. And more often than not, they’ve got role models who inspired them too.
These videos motivated me and made me think differently. I hope you find them helpful too!
Michael Jordan was an inspiration to me when I was growing up. I’ve never met him, but I still consider him to be one of my role models to this day. I didn’t live in America when I was a kid and I didn’t know much about basketball, but I watched these documentaries in my teen years, and through them Michael taught me much about what it takes to succeed at anything.
I was Boy Scout when I was growing up. I knew it wasn’t a ‘cool’ thing to do, but that group surrounded me with positive role models every week and gave me skills I still use today to achieve my goals. One of the things I learned is that you can find out more about the future careers you want from the inspiring people and role models who already have them. You might want to check out Girlguiding’s ‘Real Role Models’ video series, starting with this interview with broadcast journalist Becky Meehan. It’s interesting what she says after 1 minute 54 seconds…
Just because you’re young and are starting out on your path to successdoesn’t mean you can’t be an excellent role model – for your friends, your siblings, and maybe even your teacher. Don’t just talk the talk about working hard, being successful, and loving life – walk the walk and inspire those around you to do the same. Thanks, Modern Family, for this clip – I couldn’t have said it better myself!
