"Kevin has consistently educated and entertained our young customers, and year after year, raises the bar by presenting cutting edge material."
Jennifer Griffin – General Manager, Ultimate Goal.
"I found it very useful for myself and I think the pupils will have got so much from it as well. They responded really well to the seminar and I also think it would be useful for Year 10 as they start their GCSE/BTEC courses."
Teresa, Teacher.

Awaken The Giant Within – by Anthony Robbins
This is one of the top self-help books of all time. It’s the book that my dad discovered in an airport (even though he was a committed non-reader at the time!), and it inspired a transformation in my family that led us to forgive past mistakes and grow in ways we never imagined.
My mum read Awaken The Giant Within, my sister read it, and I read it when I was 19 years old. It’s packed with brilliant ideas, techniques, and activities that make a huge difference to people’s lives. Thank you Tony Robbins for writing this book. You changed our lives, and I dare say many more too.
This book recently stimulated a worldwide re-awakening to the Law of Attraction. If you want to have a simple strategy for creating the life of your dreams this book is definitely for you.
The author provides many great examples about how to use the power of focus for your personal benefit. I enjoyed the layout of the book, and the wide variety of experts that contributed to the content made it a compelling read.
It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be – by Paul Arden
Every now and then, a book comes along that changes the way you think and behave. This book did that to me when I was 26 years old. I bought it in Birmingham, and admittedly, I started reading it because I wanted to gain ideas that would help me grow my business. Interestingly, I ended up growing my self!
Revision & Exam Results
Eat That Frog – by Brian Tracy
If you’ve ever found yourself overloaded with work or stressed out because you’ve got so much to do, this book is for you. Eat that Frog taught me lots about how to prioritise my work and get things done.
The Mind Map Book – by Tony & Barry Buzan
I started mind mapping when I was sixteen, and it proved to be a hugely beneficial technique when I was revising for exams. I still use the strategies in this book and I expect I will do so for the rest of my life.
If you want to improve your memory, inject some enjoyment into your learning, and become a more effective student, this book is for you.
I only read this book recently, but it taught me much about the common mistakes that lots of people make when they look for quick fixes to their problems. There are no short cuts when it comes to establishing good health – You really have to develop good habits that you enjoy doing every day, and this book can show you how to do it.
Stress & Self Belief
If a petrol car didn’t work properly because it had been wrongly filled with diesel, we would clean up the mess before ever attempting to start the car and get it moving again.
And so it doesn’t make sense that we often try to get pupils who think negatively about school to improve their performance in school by insisting that they complete more school lessons before first addressing their negative thoughts about school.
It is essential that students learn how to think positively and believe in their abilities if they are to achieve their potential at school. Lou Tice created a fantastic personal development programme that was completed by teachers and students in many schools around the world. I listened to his audiotapes and read this book when I was 18 years old.
I recommend this book to you whole heartedly because it’s full fundamentals that must be mastered by those who want to be successful.
Who Moved My Cheese – by Dr Spencer Johnson
This is an entertaining short story about four mice. As they respond to the challenges in their daily live, you can’t help but learn valuable things about yourself and those around you. I read this book in my mid-twenties… I only wish I’d read it earlier.
Emotional Intelligence – by Daniel Goleman
It seems that most schools around the world place a disproportionate emphasis on children developing their Intellectual Quotient (IQ) when I believe that greater benefits could be gained if we invested a bit more time helping students develop their Emotional Quotient (EQ).
Every teacher and coach should know about the contents of this book, and thereafter be able help their students develop the emotional skills that are absolutely necessary for long-term success and happiness to be experienced in life.
Behavior & Attendance
The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People – by Stephen Covey
I started reading this masterpiece when I was 17, and I finished it when I was 18! In my opinion, Stephen Covey writes the truth. The principles he shares in this book are rock solid fundamentals that I believe everyone should learn and live by. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is brilliant – It’s a book that I return to time and time again.
Don’t Shoot The Dog – by Karen Pryor
Teachers frequently ask me how they can improve their relationship with their students and motivate their students to do better. I often tell them to read this book. Don’t Shoot The Dog provides readers with easy-to-use techniques that really do make a difference.
If you’ve ever been to one of my residential events or observed me working with teenagers, you’ll probably have seen me using techniques that I learned in this book! Now you know where I got my ideas!
The Rules of Life – by Richard Templar
Every page of this book reveals solid principles to live our lives by. Any teacher, coach, or youth worker can easily gain life-changing ideas from The Rules of Life to share with young people. Some of the content is obvious whilst other parts are not so, but it has the potential to make a difference when the knowledge herein is used on a daily basis.
Bullying & Relationships
Reading People – by Jo-Ellen Dimitrius and Mark Mazzarella
This book provides great help to people that work with young people because it can raise your awareness of your own communication, whilst becoming more conscious of other people’s communication. Reading People provides fantastic insights into the influence that our words, voice qualities, and body language have when connecting with others.
Neuro Lingusitic Programming (NLP) provides many useful tools for improving relationships and performance. In my opinion, this book does a great job of identifying and explaining many success strategies that I think all teachers, coaches, and youth workers should know.
Social Intelligence – by Daniel Goleman
Every teacher and coach should know about the content of this book. I listened to the audio book version whilst backpacking through Cambodia, and I was impressed by the solid research and sound advice. I didn’t find it particularly easy to digest, but was certainly worthwhile.
Health & Sport
The Juice Master’s Ultimate Fast Food – by Jason Vale
Jason Vale writes fantastic books on health. He helps people understand how bad habits can be formed, and more importantly, he provides you with an easy-to-use road map for enjoying healthy food and exercise.
I’ve become great friends with Jason over the last 12 years. You might say that he’s my brother from another mother! I’ve never met anyone with more energy, passion, and desire to make a difference in the world. His humour and personal example is truly inspirational.
It’s Not About The Bike – by Lance Armstrong
What a life story! I’m always cautious about placing someone on a pedestal because all human beings have their imperfections and make mistakes. That said, Lance Armstrong’s autobiographical account of surviving cancer and going on to win the Tour de France is filled with valuable lessons and real life inspiration.
I met Lance just after the turn of the Millennium in Portland (Oregon). He was wonderfully warm, sincere, and incredibly open. What he has already achieved is absolutely sensational. I have great respect for this mountain of a man, and I believe that young people around the world can learn much from his never say die approach to life.
I got addicted to this book! Achieving great things at a young age, becoming famous, serving time in prison, and overcoming alcohol addiction are just a few of the topics that are covered in Tony Adams’ life story. It doesn’t matter whether you like football because there’s something in this book for everyone.
Careers & The Future
Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite – by Paul Arden
I read this book in the bath at a friend’s house! It’s a very quick read, but it makes some very important points. I won’t spoil them for you… I’ll just encourage you to read Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite because it might just help you with a few things.
The Millionaire Mind – by Thomas J Stanley
I read this book whilst laying on a beautiful beach in Thailand. Interestingly, the book made more of an impression on me than the beach!
The Millionaire Mind shares the results of a research study that looked into the lives of America’s wealthiest people. I was amazed by the findings, largely because it contradicts much of the careers advice I’ve received in the past. It also brings into doubt the emphasis that is placed on the teaching of traditional subjects taught in schools, at the expense of providing courses to students that develop character, integrity, inter-personal skills and such like.
I recommend you read this book, and I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts about the material.
I read this book recently and it had big impact on my values. I think every teenager should read it before they enter the ‘real world’ and get caught up in the rat race of earning money so they can purchase more and more unnecessary material goods that fail to bring any degree of lasting fulfillment.
Gifted & Talented
Self-Awareness – by Travis Bradberry
If more young people were more aware of their own inner strengths and talents, I believe they would be more able to make better decisions about what they’re going to do with their lives after completing compulsory education.
This book provides readers with a personality profile that I think would help students get to know themselves better, and therefore advance their understanding of what courses and careers might best suit their personality. This is a useful tool that I think schools could use to help their pupils plan for the future.
Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway – by Susan Jeffers
Life is rarely a smooth ride, and as such, I wish the education system would place more focus on teaching young people how to deal with life’s challenges. Sadly, whilst schools tend to do a very good of raising students’ awareness of common teen problems, they rarely provide effective instruction on how young people can deal efficiently with such challenges. I encourage teachers and coaches to read this book because it provides fantastic insights that should be passed on to young people to help them through difficult experiences.
Think And Grow Rich – by Napoleon Hill
This was the first self-help book I ever read! I was 15 years old at the time, and even though it took me an eternity to read, it changed my life forever.
Mentoring, Coaching, & Training
The Fifth Discipline – By Peter M. Senge
This book has shaped my thinking greatly. The subtitle of this book says it all… ‘The art and practice of the learning organization.’ The Fifth Discipline is a truly magnificent book. It is packed with concepts, principles, and processes that can improve any family, school, team, or organization. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
4MAT in Action – by Susan Morris & Bernice McCarthy
There is an underlying structure to every motivational event and life-coaching resource we produce at Unstoppable Teen. This book provides part of the structure that’s embedded within all our materials. If you use the 4MAT, I predict that you’ll advance your ability to connect with young people, produce more engaging lessons, and improve the results that your students achieve. Big claims I know, but that’s what this book did for me.
Success Secrets of the Motivational Superstars – by Michael Jeffreys
This book provides 500 pages of motivational gold dust! I read Success Secrets of the Motivational Superstars when I was 19 years old – Never before or since have I found such a thorough compilation of interviews with motivational speakers. In these pages you will learn how the world’s best presenters engage their audiences and inspire them to succeed. It’s packed with practical advice that will help teachers, coaches, and youth workers bring out the best in those they work with.
Ages 13-14
Jonathan Livingston Seagull – by Richard Bach
I read this book when I was 15 years old. I loved it, firstly because it was short and easy to read, which meant I was able to read it quickly… and that made me feel intelligent!
Secondly, and more importantly, I loved the book because it spoke to me. It’s an inspirational short story that gave me the courage to tread my own path and create my own personal identity, rather than conforming to peer pressure and getting lost in the crown. I think everybody should read Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
Ages 14-15
The Book of Secrets – by Robert J. Petro
I received this book as a gift from my dad when I was 19. It follows the experiences of a young Mexican as he transitions towards adulthood.
The author does a great job of pulling together many principles about dealing with experiencing a happy life and achieving success in spite of the obstacles that may cross your path.
I have very fond memories of turning the pages late at night when I was snuggled in my bed! This was a gift that I will always treasure.
Ages 15-16
Who Moved My Cheese for Teens – by Dr Spencer Johnson
This is an entertaining short story about four mice. As they respond to the challenges in their daily lives, you can’t help but learn valuable things about yourself and those around you. I read this book in my mid-twenties, but it would have been better if I’d read it when I was still at school.
Ages 16-19
Notes From A Friend – by Anthony Robbins
This is a how-to guide that every teenager should read. I was given a copy for Christmas in 1999… I only wish I’d received it earlier and read it earlier!
Audio Books
Aspiration & Motivation
The Success Principles – by Jack Canfield
This has to be one of the most thorough audio books I’ve ever listened to on the subject of personal achievement. It’s packed with philosophies and strategies that can help you (and others) be happy and successful.

The Soul of Healing Meditations – by Deepak Chopra
This recording is truly magical. I must admit that the first time I listened to it I thought it was a bit weird! But now, I don’t go anywhere without taking The Soul of Healing Meditations on my iPod.
Mastering your emotions is an essential skill to learn if you’re going to perform at your best, and this guided relaxation programme will lead you into a wonderful state of pure relaxation. It didn’t take long for this recording to become part of my weekly routine. Now my mum uses it, my girlfriend loves it, and I bet you’ll get hooked too!
Stress & Self Belief
Focus – by Stephen Covey, Hyrum Smith, and Steve Jones
I listened to this audio book over several days whist walking along the beautiful beaches of Mexico. The exercises in the recoding enabled me to re-connect with my deepest values and beliefs, which in turn strengthened my self-confidence.
I challenge you to not only listen to this audio book, but also complete the tasks it contains because they can help you take giant steps in a very short period of time.
Behaviour & Attendance
How To Be A Complete And Utter Failure In Life, Work, And Everything – by Steve McDermott
The title of this audio book made me chuckle, but the content made me think. It’s full of sound advice that every teenager should know… especially those who are getting themselves into trouble.
Bullying & Relationships
The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People – by Stephen Covey
This is an all-time classic, and essential listening for anyone that wants to experience a fantastic life. I first listened to the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People during my morning workouts when I was 20 years old, and I have revisited the material many times since. It is packed with what I consider to be fundamental concepts that everyone should know, and in my opinion, lead their lives by.
Health & Sport
The Power of Full Engagement – by Tommy Loehr & Tony Schwartz
I listen to this audio book every year and always learn something valuable. Time after time I meet young people that want to achieve the best results (and gain all the rewards that go with that), but they don’t give the best of themselves on a daily basis. This recording deals with that issue, and many others. I recommend it to you.
Careers & The Future
Now Discover Your Strengths – Marcus Buckingham & Donald O. Clifton
What a revelation! This audio book enabled me to learn more about myself. It genuinely changed my view about many things – I loved it!
I believe that self-awareness is an important ingredient for success and happiness in life. As such, young people need to know what they’re good at because this will help them make good career decisions. Unfortunately, many students don’t discover their strengths through their school experiences. Thankfully this recording gives everyone the opportunity to identify their natural strengths, and understand what direction they can take in the future in order to make best use of those strengths.
Gifted & Talented
The Power of Intention – by Dr Wayne Dyer
I believe that young people should learn how to use their personal focus to deal with problems and achieve their goals. This audio book will enable you to understand the power of intention, and show you how to use this universal law to achieve great things.
Mentoring, Coaching, & Training
Unlimited Power – by Anthony Robbins
The simplicity and effectiveness of the techniques outlines in Unlimited Power are quite remarkable. After listening to this audio book I knew I could achieve anything I wanted. Perhaps more importantly, I had a set of strategies I knew I had to execute if I was ever going to turn my dreams into a reality.
Ages 13-14
The Way of the Peaceful Warrior – by Dan Millman
This was one of the first books that truly inspired me and affected my approach to daily life – And now it’s available as an audio book! It’s the story of a young man (who thought he knew everything) and his elder mentor.
I read The Way of The Peaceful Warrior when I was 17 years old and just starting to explore my own personal development. This book grabbed me, held my attention, and changed me (for the better) forever. I love it, and I recommend it to you.
Ages 14-15
Ages 15-16
Exam Buster – by Paul McKenna & Michael Breen
I frequently listened to this recording when I was preparing for my exams in school. My grades went up in eight subjects in less than six months! I guess the results speak for themselves!
Ages 16-19
Retire Young Retire Rich – by Robert T. Kiyosaki
I was once told to be careful whose advice you listen to regarding money. From that point on I’ve tried to get financial advice from people that are already wealthy because they are likely to know what they’re talking about. Since Robert Kiyosaki is a multi-millionaire and was able to stop working twenty years earlier than most people, I thought he must know what he’s talking about. After listening to his audio book, I’m absolutely certain that he knows what he’s talking about. I just wish this stuff were taught in schools because I think everybody should know it.
Music
Music plays an important part in our lives. It can lift us up when we’re feeling down and some songs become linked to memories that will last forever. Interestingly, music can set a pace and tone for the work they are completing.
These are some of the songs that Kevin is currently playing in his motivational seminars:
3. Use Somebody - King of Leon
5. Right To Be Wrong - Joss Stone
9. I Can - Nas
Movies
This is Kevin’s current Top 10 Films List for teachers, coaches, and youth workers. They will make you laugh, cry, learn… and they might even inspire to improve something in your life!
1. The Secret
This documentary-style film provides interviews with experts and insights into the Law of Attraction. It does a fantastic job of bringing neuroscience to the mainstream, and shows viewers how they can achieve their ambitions. I think The Secret is a must watch for everyone that’s keen to maximise their potential and create an extraordinary quality of life.
2. What The Bleep Do We Know!?
This film is mind-boggling! It was recommended to me by a 15 year old lad who said he’d watched it in amazement with his mates. I thought it was brilliant. Perhaps What The Bleep Do We Know!? should be taught in Science lessons. I’d love to hear what you think about this material.
This movie changed my life. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s true. When I watched this as a 15 year old I could totally relate to the problems that the main characters were experiencing. There are no special effects, just a rock solid story line and fantastic acting that made me weep. I took the lessons that oozed out of each scene and my life was never the same again. See if it makes you want become a better person and get the most out of each day too.
4. Coach Carter
The world is crowded with adults that moan about the attitude of young people. Every now and again someone stands up and does something about it. Every young person should have a Coach Carter in their life to help them understand what’s really important. The fact that this movie was inspired by a true story made it all the more poignant for me. I hope you get as much out of it as I did.
This is an incredible story based on real life events that happened shortly after the Los Angeles riots in the 1990s. I remember watching the news unfold on TV, but I wasn’t aware of what was happening to young people in LA’s schools at that time. I was inspired by what one newly qualified teacher was prepared to do to help her students make progress in their lives. I bet you’ll be inspired too.
6. October Sky
This is an uplifting true story is about a boy from a coal-mining town who breaks the mould to pursue his ambitions. You can’t help feeling inspired at the end!
A teacher sets a homework assignment, and one child comes up with a genuinely life-changing idea. This roller coaster of a story takes many twists and turns. Some you will like, others you won't. But in the end, I was left wondering, "What would our world be like if everyone actually did pay it forward?"
If you haven’t seen it yet, you have to watch this movie. In every community I visit, I find characters like the one that Matt Damon plays in Good Will Hunting. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the world is filled with brilliant people that are gifted and talented. Unfortunately, and all too often, these brilliant people prevent themselves from fulfilling their potential. This film deals with that issue head on. It motivated me to get over my problems and pursue my dreams – I hope it inspires you too.
Oh my gosh! If you’ve ever wanted to know what impact eating junk food has on the human body you simply have to watch this real-life documentary. The film follows one man who decides to eat nothing but McDonald’s for one month… You won’t believe what happens!
10. Crash
This film does an amazing job of raising peoples' awareness to the prejudices in society. It might even reveal some prejudices you didn't even know you had. I won't say too much because I don’t want to spoil the surprises, but I will say that this film probably won’t end the way you expect it to.
