A leading life-skills coach who has presented motivational seminars to over 250,000 teenagers launched a campaign today, which attacks the blame culture surrounding Britain’s youth and instead highlights a national system letting young people down, particularly around this crucial exam revision period.

Following news last month of three separate teen murders as well as results released on unemployment figures rising to 2.5 million, Kevin Mincher, 31, through his Unstoppable Teen programme has launched a campaign to highlight the impact that school exams can have on the mental and emotional well-being of young people in the UK.

An expert in teenage issues has responded frustratingly to Education Secretary Michael Gove’s announcement of priorities for education last week stating that instead of much-needed innovative solutions to the education system there are indications of a step back to dictatorial discipline styles.

Performance coach, Kevin Mincher, who has coached over 250,000 children and is currently touring UK schools during this crucial exam revision period, explains that whilst few people would argue with the outcomes the new government has set out, it’s their strategy for achieving those outcomes that are most concerning.

10/05/2010 - Increases in Illiteracy Guaranteed Warns Teen Coach - Media Release (Download full pdf)

Following weekend reports on the shocking results that 22% of 16-19 year olds in the UK are functionally illiterate and 17% are innumerate, leading teen coach Kevin Mincher has today predicted that things are only going to get worse unless our school-children start being taught fundamental character skills to help deal with the way our modern society functions.

“At the moment we currently live in an ‘instant gratification society’ which makes young people believe they can gain maximum reward with minimum effort. However, in reality, our teenagers are feeling the cost of this attitude as soon as they’re out in the big wide world with 10.7% of our school leavers classified as Neets in these reports,” explains Mincher.
